Seminar Advert:

The Judicial Office is organising a pre-application seminar that will take place online via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday 17 July (5-6pm).
The seminar aims to help applicants be better prepared to make an application and to receive up-to-date guidance and advice on the JAC’s selection process. As well as the JAC, you will hear from the President and two other members of the VTE.

What is the Valuation Tribunal for England (VTE)
The Valuation Tribunal for England is a non-departmental body sponsored by the Department of Levelling Up, Communities and Housing (DLUHC) and hears disputes arising from decisions made by the Valuation Office Agency and/or the local council regarding council tax and business rate matters. Panels hear appeals on local taxation matters and arrive at vital decisions based on evidence and governing legislation.

Who should attend?
VTE Members are volunteers who come from all walks of life and work in all sorts of fields and have no previous connection to the law profession. What they do have is a sense of fairness, the ability to listen, make rational judgements and be proud representatives of their communities.

Applications are particularly welcome from under-represented groups (women, ethnic minority candidates and disabled candidates). Training is provided for all appointed members.
