The seminar
The Judicial Office is organising a pre-application seminar that will take place online via Microsoft Teams on Monday 14th April 2025 (5-6pm).

The seminar aims to help applicants be better prepared to make an application and to receive up-to-date guidance and advice on the JAC’s selection process. As well as the JAC, you will also hear from the President of the Social Entitlement Chamber, the Chief Medical Member and a current Regional Medical Member.

Who should attend?
This role is open to registered medical practitioners with unconditional registration with the General Medical Council (GMC). The Lord Chancellor also expects that candidates for salaried posts will have sufficient directly relevant previous judicial experience sitting as a fee-paid medical member of the First-tier Tribunal, Social Entitlement Chamber in the Social Security and Child Support Tribunal. For fee-paid members this should be for a period of at least 30 sitting days since appointment at the point of application. Only in exceptional cases and if the candidate in question has demonstrated the necessary skills in some other significant way should an exception be made.

Applications are particularly welcome from under-represented groups (women, ethnic minority candidates, disabled candidates).
