Circuit Judge Appointment: Carter
The King has appointed James Carter to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Alex Chalk KC MP and the former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.
The former Lord Chief Justice deployed him to the Midlands Circuit, based at Derby Combined Court (Crown) with effect from 13 November 2023.
James Carter will be known as His Honour Judge James Carter. He was called to the Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 2010. He was appointed as Deputy District Judge in 2019, as a District Judge in 2021, and as a Recorder in 2022.
