Circuit Judge Appointment: Straw
The King has appointed Jonathan Straw to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Alex Chalk KC MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.
The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the Midlands Circuit, based at Derby Combined Court (Crown) with effect from 09 October 2023.
Background Information
Jonathan Straw will be known as His Honour Judge Straw. He was called to the Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 1992. He was appointed as an Assistant Coroner in 2018, as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal in 2020, and as a District Judge (Magistrate’s Court) in 2021.
