His Honour Judge Jonathan Black retires as a Circuit Judge with effect from 30 March 2023.
Background information
His Honour Judge Jonathan Black was admitted as a Solicitor in 1980. He was Clerk to the Justices for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight from 1989 to 2010, a Member of the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales from 1998 to 2002 and a Member of the Criminal Justice Consultative Council from 2001 to 2002. He was appointed a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2004, a Recorder in 2005 and a Circuit Judge in 2010. He was a Criminal Course Tutor at the Judicial College from 2016 to 2023.
